.i throw my hands up in the air sometimes.

30 Jul

Thank-you notes are not my friend. I’m still working on them. I don’t even think I’m half-way done. Right now I’m starting to feel kind of guilty for not having them finished and sent out yet. Although, I did read somewhere–in some magazine or on some wedding website–that proper thank-you note etiquette is to have them out within 2 months of the wedding date. So I guess I’m doing just fine, according to that guideline. Hopefully all of our guests think that’s appropriate… I hate worrying that someone might think I’m being rude. Right now our couch is covered in thank-you note paraphernalia, and I’m not putting it away until we’re finished. Otherwise it’ll be out-of-sight, out-of-mind. No good.

Tomorrow I have to work a double, which I’m not really excited about. Although my morning shift is just running the register, no waiting tables. Gotta make that rent money! And money for bills. Yuck. I am nervous to see what the first few months are like with rent and utilities on top of all of my other bills. It’s been awhile since I had rent to pay! :) Kevin never has. Lucky bum!

So for the past week I’ve had two songs constantly stuck in my head… “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz and “I Like It” by Enrique Iglesias. I don’t know what it is about those songs, but they just make me want to dance around and make a sweet video montage of me and my friends having a good time with those songs as the background music. Does that make sense? HaHa. I just love ‘em!

Dance!

Have your musical tastes changed much from your younger years?

I was all about pop & country in middle school. N’SYNC was obviously my obsession (well not obviously, I suppose it could have been BSB. HaHa.) but I definitely grew out of the boy band phase, thankfully. Then I got into rap/hip-hop and still pop and eventually I stopped listening to country altogether, especially in college. Oh and I can’t forget the Yellowcard/NFG group. Love them & probably always will.

I always hated techno/dance music. I’m not really sure why anymore though because now I LOVE it! David Guetta is my main man. And I dig Cascada & DJ Tiesto… but I seriously HATED that kind of music up until about the time I went to Spain. They love their dance/house music over there in Europe, that’s for sure. So I grew to like it. :) Now I click it on when I’m working out for some serious motivation.

Now I don’t know if there really is a kind of music that I would say I “hate.” Wait, I lied. Nickelback and Daughtry. I’m sorry to all of you Daughtry fans… I loved him when he was on American Idol, I really did! But now his songs kind of scrape at my brain when I hear them. Much like Nickelback! And I can’t say I’m a fan of stuff like The Jonas Brothers or that Justin Bieber kid. (EDIT: I now have a mild case of Bieber Fever.) And I don’t LOVE country but I did grow back into liking some of it & occasionally listening to it. It’s like I don’t want to like it, but I can’t help it. I’m a country kid at heart, ya know?! So yeah, I’ll jam out to some old school Shania, Diamond Rio, Reba, or some Carrie Underwood/Taylor Swift! :D \

So what musical genres do you just hate? Any? None? I feel like most people have a fairly wide range of musical tastes. Not everyone, but a lot. It depends a lot on mood, for me.

.you’re in my mind, you’re in my heart.

I love John Legend. I’m listening to “Heartbreaker” by MSTRKRFT ft. the one & only Mr. Legend… and I’m obsessed. I’ve probably played it about 10 times today. And I made it my new ringtone.

And now, I love MSTRKRFT. Fun techno sounds that you can dance to are always good in my book.

My birthday was last Saturday–fun times had by all. Being 23 feels weird. 21 was fun because you feel young and you just want to have fun and enjoy being able to go out and have drinks with your friends and what-not… 22 feels a bit more adult but you’re still way in your early twenties, you know? 23 is boring and I’m starting to feel less of a young adult and more like a regular adult. If that makes sense. I mean, I definitely don’t feel my age… I feel the same as I did when I was about 20 other than I’ve learned a few things since then. But it’s like I’m getting out of that 18+ age range… the college group. And it just feels weird. But not bad!

Like I said, I don’t really feel my age and I doubt that I ever will… sometimes I feel like a poser in this adult life, actually. But I’m not one of those people who are always sad about getting older. That’s life! I see getting older as an opportunity for more experiences! So far I’ve enjoyed every stage of my life and I expect it to always be that way.

Time to get back to Book 7 of the Sookie Stackhouse novels!
